Here's a nice article debunking the idea, popular in some circles, that the Christian motifs of the life of Jesus came from pagan sources, especially Egyptian sources (link from Cronaca). In fact, the scholarship on which that view was founded is far out of date.
If you like the first Cronoca link, try the later one to a similar revision of the standard story of the Spanish Inquisition too. It was actually a fair and enlightened tribunal. Surprising? Yes. But fair or not, nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.
