Yes, student elections are in the works at BYU. Go ahead, click this link and take yourself back to those good old days when cafeteria food, textbook prices, and the dress code were pressing issues that could capture your vote and even sway an election. Here is a sampling of weighty campaign issues and promises offered by the five presidential teams vying for the top spots in the hierarchy:
- Bring back the Superfans (an elite brand of season ticket holder).
- Create a comprehensive calendar of campus events (a selective calendar just won't do).
- Break free from the bubble with Y-Days (I don't even know what this means).
- Promote student access to instructor and course ratings (a sensible suggestion from a pair of Political Science majors).
- Sponsor tailgate parties and yelling practice (come to think of it, I did noticed a distinct absence of yelling during my years at BYU).

Dave, I didn't know Superfans was no longer there. Do you know anything about why it ceased to exist?

Perhaps they are practicing yelling their way out of the bubble now at BYU... (Although it might be easier just to use the corner of one of those calendars to pop the bubble and get out.)

I'm not aware that it ever ceased to exist, but it may've taken a big hit after President Bateman came down hard on those fans who were painting their faces and bodies at football games.

I thought that the Superfans were always around too.
But there was also the hoopla about the tortillas (also here, plus a number of letters to the editor).
