Thirty-five years ago today, about 6 p.m. California time, Neil Armstrong of Apollo 11 set foot on the moon. "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
By amazing coincidence, I just happened to rent Apollo 13 tonight, which reminded me of this historic date. There was a problem, but we brought them back home in one piece. "Failure is not an option."
"One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
Do you think he thought of that spur of the moment or do you think it was rehearsed?
Loved Apollo 13 when I first saw it, and I still love it today.

i heard on NPR that the landing was done manually, cuz the computer was going to crash them into some rocks. also...that cuz of this, they almost ran out of fuel & didn't make it.
didn't know how close it was...
the drama adds to the moment & the historical value of it i think...
