There's a press release at LDS.org announcing a new temple to be built in Draper, Utah (about 20 miles south of downtown SLC). Here's the text of the announcement:
The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced that the Church's 12th temple in Utah will be built in the Corner Canyon area of Draper, a community located in the southeast Salt Lake Valley.
The new temple will share a large site with a stake center already under construction, and the two buildings will utilize a common parking facility. The new temple in Draper will be the Church's third temple in the Salt Lake Valley.
In a letter that was read to Church members in meetings yesterday in the Salt Lake City area, the First Presidency noted that the temple "will be a blessing to the many faithful Saints in this rapidly-growing area" and will relieve overcrowding at the Jordan River Utah Temple.
I haven't seen this posted by other B'nacle sites, but if I missed a post leave a comment and I'll do an update. I'm curious why the official announcement read over the pulpit was limited to Utah congregations, given how closely most members follow temple announcements (regardless of where the temple is to be located).
Update: Here's the SL Trib article with some additional details and a map.
I think the real issue is why the church didn't just buy the Treehouse fitness center and convert that into the temple. The place is huge and state of the art, plus the pool out back would have made a great baptismal font. And it's right along 126th south. Just kidding.
Since there was a press release the next day, I'm not sure the Utah-exclusive announcement was all that important. Aren't most temple announcements just made at General conference? As I understand it, the only reason there was an announcement and subsequent press release is because the general conference announcement somewhat ambiguously announced a temple 'somewhere in the Salt Lake Valley.'

Yes APJ, now that you mention it I recall the "somewhere in the Salt Lake Valley" announcement.
