The desire and ability to blog: it comes, it goes. Sometimes you're busy and there's no time; other times you're tired or there's just nothing ... to ... say. So I finally log on tonight and what do I see? Not popcorn popping, but five ugly spammish comments posted to the strangely irresistable post Stupid Things. I don't know what it is about that title, but it still brings in a dozen hits a week, generally under searches like "Mormon stupid." Maybe I need to do a post titled "Brilliant Things" and see what happens.
Anyway, I get not one or two but five spammish comments, some of them posing as replies to the original spammish comment. Here's the kicker: the IP addresses are from a Catholic district school board in Ontario, Canada. Go figure. I resist the urge to make a false generalization about either Catholics or Canadians based on these unfortunate spam comments. To the contrary, I was pleasantly surprised at how many of the fine readers leaving comments on the 1000 Comments thread have Catholic ties, and some of my best friends are Canadian. 'nuf said. I will also resist (for now) the urge to toggle my comment queue back on.
Next week's theme: posting a few book reviews and culling my Featured Books queue (then restocking it with books I've already started reading).
Plus, it can take every hour of your time. One just can't keep up.
But I'm going to look under Mormon stupid. That just cracked me up. You know, there are so many people in our church that take themselves way too seriously.
